A NOTE FROM PASTOR JOSH...

I don't know where you're coming from. I don't know if you're a member of this church, if you're a member of another church, or if you're not a member of the church at all. Maybe you've been to church and thought it was the most boring hour and a half that you've ever had to sit through. Maybe you think church is for the old people, the people who actually like to sing hymns and get dressed up on a Sunday morning.

I am one of the kinds of people who will be honest enough with you to tell you to your face and to the face of church leaders everywhere that alot of Christians make me sick. The fake smiles, the lack of love, the change that occurs the minute they walk out the church door.

So why am I a pastor?

Because I believe in change.

I want to invite you to be part of a journey this Fall. I'm talking about church like you've never experienced before. The kind of community, the kind of place that makes you wake up on Sunday morning and say "What do I want to do more than anything else in the world today? How about go to church?"

It's hard to believe, I know. But I believe that God is leading me and you on a journey to find a new way of Christianity - the kind that actually believes Jesus meant what he said.

I'm inviting you to join me on that adventure. I don't know where it leads, but I know the invitation is for everyone. It's for teachers and pastors and construction workers, it's for porn stars and alcoholics and drug dealers. It's for the broken, the hurt, the searching. The adventure is for humanity.

This fall, we are going to embark on that journey together. Rochester FMC is going to be starting a new service, an evening service - but I like to think of it simply as "The Gathering". No need to dress up. No need to feel obligated to bring 20 dollars to toss in the collection plate. Just bring your heart and an eager mind that is searching for truth.

There will be a pastor there, offering up his thoughts and guidance - but he's just as much on this journey as you are. The journey to find the Christ.

"The Gathering" Sunday evening worship services will begin on September 7, 2008 at 7:00pm.

YOUTH GROUP

Agape Student Ministries meets on Thursday nights for grades 7-12 at 6:00pm to 8:00pm. We have a Nintendo Wii and tons of games to play, as well as food most of the time. Coming up soon is an event called Messy Game Night, which basically evolves into a massive food fight - you against all!

UpTake Ministries is a ministry started by Josh and his friend Shawna that wants to make a tangible difference in the world through love.
